PLESETSK COSMODROME

Plesetsk cosmodrome was founded in 1957. It is situated in Arkhangelsk region, 62054' north and 40023' east, allowing to launch spacecraft into different inclination orbits. The cosmodrome includes 9 launch pads for Soyuz, Molniya, Cosmos-3M, Cyclone-3, Rockot launch vehicles, as well as a variety of assembly/testing facilities, telemetry and tracking stations.

Highly qualified specialists support different space programs, including environmental monitoring, satellite communication, remote sensing, natural resources control, etc.

Advanced equipment provides spacecraft preparation and checkout, high quality LV testing and diagnostics, ecological monitoring of the cosmodrome and the surroundings.

More than 1500 launches have been performed from the cosmodrome, making it one of the most reliable in the world (98.4% of successful launches). About 2000 spacecraft have been placed into orbits.

Among the advantages of Plesetsk cosmodrome are:

developed transport infrastructure, including airfield "Plesetsk", road and rail links
real-time communications with any place on earth
comfortable hotel and administratin buildings
recreation facilities

KBTM is a leading enterprise in charge of Plesetsk ground infrastructure and ground launch complexes Cyclone, Cosmos, Rockot. Currently KBTM is developing universal launch complex Angara at Plesetsk cosmodrome. The first Angara launch is scheduled for 2003.
